Can anyone tell me just how many businesses have closed in this State since 1970? It only struck me since the closing of Mitsubishi's Lonsdale plant
just how many have gone by the board. Is this due to our level playing field were everything has been taken off shore, or have they gone Interstate? Having just come back from the Eastern States and seen how vibrant they are over there one wonders what's going on? Also apparently there are some 1200 persons a week leaving this State and never returning,
is this true? What's happening, are we closing down and becoming the retirement home everyone keeps referring too?

Who the hell is representing us on the Federal level? Is anyone? One would think not. We just appear to be left on the shelf when everything else goes to other States, or the States seem to be able to do it on their own. Come on Mr. RANN you started off so well, what's happening? Have you all gone to sleep up there on North Terrace? Have you become complacent and sluggish on all, those cheap meals and alcohol? Let's get off our backsides and get this place up and running. It appears from the budget that we have now got rid of all out debt, or have we? We have paid enough since 1995; now let's get this State back to its vibrant level we all use to know.

Mr. RANN.
We have a person in this State that has invented an electric motor that is better than anything else in the world at the moment, taken from a report in the Advertiser Newspaper, why can not we take this factory that is to close down at Lonsdale and use the $50,000,000 to re-tool it and make these electric motors for export to other countries? Or is this just another
project that ahs been bought by the oil cartels to be kept on a shelf until they have squeezed every little cent they can out of us? Funny isn't it that every time something like this that saves using up fossil fuel, that saves polluting the atmosphere, just seems to get bought up by some big company and never heard of again. Let's take some of this money and put it
into the future of this State. That's another matter by the way. How come today's politicians only make decisions that effect their term of office? What happened to all those pollies that made those far ranging decisions, that had the foresight for 20 and 30 years down the track. Could see the problems we would have in the future and made allowances for it by making those hard decisions today.
